KURARAY POVAL™ LM – PVA with low hydrolysis

KURARAY POVAL™ LM grades have low hydrolysis (33 – 53 mol%) and a low glass transition temperature due to their high acetate content. KURARAY POVAL™ LM polymers form suspensions in cold water and are soluble in blends containing organic solvents.

KURARAY POVAL™ LM grades have especially low saponification and are available as with an extremely low degree of hydrolysis of between 33 and 53 mol%. This unique combination makes these PVOH polymers excellent as secondary protective colloids in suspension polymerization of PVC. A high acetate content gives these polyvinyl alcohols a low glass transition temperature, so they can be dispersed in cold water or dissolved in formulations with organic solvents.
