KURARAY POVAL™ R – the PVA with built-in silanol groups

KURARAY POVAL™ R grades are polyvinyl alcohols with built-in silanol groups. Their exceptional bonding power ensures extremely good adhesion to inorganic materials such as glass, aluminium and steel.

The silanol groups in KURARAY POVAL™ R polymers mean they can also be crosslinked, which improves the water resistance of the resulting coatings. In combination with colloidal silica types, clear, transparent and high-gloss coatings can be produced.

Strong adhesion properties for coatings on metal and glass

KURARAY POVAL™ R grades have very good adhesion to inorganic materials. That makes them ideal for coatings and as bonding agents for glass, aluminum and steel. Thanks to their built-in silanol groups, these PVOH polymers have very good crosslinking properties, resulting in excellent water resistance They are therefore ideal for water-resistant coating of specialty papers.

Demanding coatings, less bonding agent

Together with colloidal silica types, KURARAY POVAL™ R grades allow production of clear, transparent and high-gloss coatings.
